Rather than only predicting actions based on past video frames—which demands understanding the player’s intent and execution—this model effectively labels a broader dataset of online videos to facilitate learning through behavioral cloning.

According to OpenAI, VPT opens the door for agents to learn actions by observing the multitude of videos available on the internet. The representative emphasized that, unlike generative video modeling or contrastive techniques that might only provide representational insights, VPT allows for the direct acquisition of extensive behavioral knowledge across diverse domains beyond just language processing.
