In the latest annual State of AI and Machine Learning report by Appen, significant insights into the landscape of artificial intelligence have emerged. According to the report, an impressive 93% of respondents believe that responsible AI is essential for all AI initiatives. Mark Brayan, CEO of Appen, notes the challenges many face in achieving this goal due to inadequate datasets, which have become a major obstacle in their paths.
The survey reveals that 51% of participants consider data accuracy critical for their AI applications. However, 42% of tech professionals indicate that sourcing quality data is particularly challenging during the AI development process. Sujatha Sagiraju, Chief Product Officer at Appen, emphasizes the complexity of managing data throughout the AI lifecycle, stating that a considerable amount of effort is required to ensure successful AI implementation. Many organizations are recognizing the increasing importance of data quality in this context.
Furthermore, a notable 95% of respondents agree on the necessity of synthetic data for creating comprehensive datasets. Organizations currently struggle with the frequent retraining of their AI models, with 90% indicating that they need to retrain more often than quarterly. Additionally, there is uncertainty among business leaders regarding their organization’s standing in AI adoption compared to competitors, with 49% believing they are ahead, while another 49% feel they are on par with their rivals.
