Aspinity Launches Groundbreaking Analog Machine Learning Chip Revolutionizing AI Technology
Machine Learning: Aspinity Unveils First Analog Machine Learning Chip
Pittsburgh-based Aspinity has introduced the AML100, the industry’s first analog machine learning chip within its analogML family. This innovative chip significantly reduces power consumption in always-on systems by as much as 95%.
Key Features
- Consumes less than 20µA while always sensing
- Reduces data quantity by up to 100x while remaining in analog form
- Field-programmable functionality for diverse always-on applications
- Utilizes patented analog compression technology to enhance wake word engine accuracy in voice-activated devices
- Supports four analog sensors (e.g., microphones, accelerometers)
- Available in a compact 7mm x 7mm 48-pin QFN package
The AML100 enables devices that previously relied on wired power or large batteries to create new product categories and allow for more flexible deployments. Tom Doyle, Founder and CEO of Aspinity, stated, “We’ve long realized that decreasing the power consumption of each chip in an always-on system only leads to marginal improvements in battery life. Manufacturers need significant enhancements.”
The AML100 achieves under 100µA power consumption in always-on systems, paving the way for numerous new applications to function on battery power. Current devices continually process large volumes of analog data, resulting in high power usage for mostly irrelevant information. Aspinity’s technology prioritizes data relevancy with a high degree of accuracy while operating at near-zero power usage. Mass production of the AML100 is expected in Q4 2022.
