DCMS Significantly Increases Spending on Data Scientists

Investments in data scientists by the UK’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) have seen remarkable growth. According to data released by the think tank Parliament Street, DCMS has allocated approximately £20,606,100 towards data scientist and data analyst positions from 2017 to 2021.

Niall Crosby, CEO of AG Grid, emphasized the importance of such investments: “In today’s digital landscape, processing and interpreting data is crucial for effective decision-making. The ongoing commitment to data analytics will enhance the efficiency of the Department of Culture, Media and Sport. It’s encouraging to witness the government’s dedication to this field.”

In 2021 alone, DCMS reached a record expenditure of around £7,383,000 to strengthen its team of data professionals, marking a 75% increase compared to £4,213,800 spent in 2020. The detailed breakdown of expenses is as follows:
