Gcore has teamed up with UbiOps and Graphcore to launch an innovative service that addresses the growing needs of modern AI applications. This collaboration merges the expertise of three industry frontrunners: Graphcore, known for its Intelligence Processing Units (IPUs); UbiOps, a robust machine learning operations (MLOps) platform; and Gcore Cloud, recognized for its dependable cloud infrastructure. By harnessing these advanced technologies, Gcore Cloud allows AI teams to seamlessly integrate IPUs for specific tasks while taking advantage of UbiOps’ MLOps features, including model versioning, governance, and monitoring.

To showcase the advantages of IPUs over other computing devices, Gcore performed benchmarking tests utilizing CPUs, GPUs, and IPUs. They trained a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) designed for image analysis using the CIFAR-10 dataset, which includes 60,000 labeled images. The results revealed a remarkable performance boost, with IPUs and GPUs significantly surpassing CPUs in training speed. Even with minimal optimization, IPUs demonstrated a superior training time compared to GPUs.
