Speech by: Andrea Jacobs, AI Legal Advisor, Ministry of Legal Affairs
“Excellencies, distinguished ambassadors, esteemed speakers, innovators, and guests. It brings me immense joy to welcome you all to the AIFOD 2025 Geneva Summit. It is an absolute honor to have each one of you here with us today. I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to our Excellencies and Ambassadors for their presence. Your leadership, dedication, and vision play a crucial role in steering the future of artificial intelligence, ensuring that its transformative essence benefits humankind as a whole.
This summit serves as a phenomenal global gathering—a convergence of minds—including policymakers, business leaders, researchers, and technologists, all united by a common commitment to harnessing the immense potential of AI. In the upcoming days, we will delve into its expansive possibilities, from revolutionizing various industries to addressing some of the world’s most urgent challenges. However, we must also acknowledge the significant responsibility that accompanies these advancements—ensuring that AI is developed and implemented in ways that are ethical, inclusive, and aligned with our shared values.
I want to take a moment to highlight how proud and excited Antigua and Barbuda is to co-host this summit alongside AIFOD. In collaboration, we aim to cultivate the type of dialogue and partnership essential for shaping an equitable, sustainable, and human-focused future for AI. It is our belief that the discussions and collaborations initiated here will pave the way for a global AI ecosystem that prioritizes the welfare of individuals, communities, and nations alike.
As we embark on this transformative journey in the next few days, I urge each of you to actively engage, share your perspectives, and envision boldly the potential that lies ahead. The future of AI will not be authored by any single person or organization, but rather by all of us working collectively to ensure that it advances the greater good.
Once again, thank you all for your invaluable presence. Your commitment to this critical field shines through, and we eagerly anticipate the ideas, collaborations, and innovations that will rise from these fruitful discussions. Thank you.”
