Pensees Sets Up Singapore Institute: Transforming AI Innovation in Southeast Asia

SINGAPORE, July 31 (Xinhua) — The Beijing-based AI powerhouse, Pensees Technology Co Ltd, inaugurated its Singapore Institute on Wednesday, set to spearhead the development of cutting-edge industrial research and delivery capabilities both within Singapore and beyond.
The newly established Pensees Singapore Institute is led by the esteemed AI specialist, Jane Shen, who serves as the company’s Chief Scientist. The institute is expected to accommodate up to 70 talented staff, including AI algorithm researchers, system researchers, hardware specialists, and engineers, all dedicated to pushing the boundaries of AI technology.
At the inauguration ceremony, Ma Yuan shared his insights, stating, “Singapore serves a pivotal role in ushering in the next wave of AI innovation. We are excited to root ourselves here, exploring opportunities to enhance our offerings and collaborate with exceptional AI talents from both academia and industry.”
On the same day, Pensees revealed its intention to forge alliances with local experts and academic institutions. The Pensees Singapore Institute has entered into a Research Collaboration Agreement with the National University of Singapore (NUS) to co-develop an AI-Based Camera System. This project has been recognized as one of the AI 100E initiatives under the AI Innovation Program, which is overseen by AI Singapore, a body under the Singapore National Research Foundation dedicated to fostering AI innovation. Additionally, Pensees has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Nanyang Polytechnic, committing to advancements in autonomous systems, autonomous robotics, and the development and testing of AI applications.
The Chinese AI firm also announced the establishment of its Technical Advisory Board on Wednesday. This board will initially feature four distinguished professors from NUS and Nanyang Technological University, marking a significant step in harnessing academic expertise for technological advancement.
Since its founding in 2017, Pensees has successfully developed and implemented a diverse range of AI solutions across various sectors, including Enterprise Security, Public Safety, Smart Communities, and Intelligent Manufacturing.
