“Reimagining Tomorrow: AI Innovations for a Sustainable Future”

Today marks the grand launch of Canvas of the Future, an exciting new initiative spearheaded by ITU’s AI for Good in collaboration with Shutterstock. This competition presents a unique opportunity for artists, creators, and AI aficionados from around the world to contribute to the global discourse surrounding the potential role of artificial intelligence (AI) in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). Participants are encouraged to articulate their visions for a brighter tomorrow by delving into the captivating relationship between AI and art.

This AI-driven art contest is designed to showcase the imaginative and transformative capabilities of AI. AI for Good has been leading the charge in identifying actionable AI applications that bolster the UN SDGs, aiming to amplify these solutions globally. Now, they invite the creative community to spark fresh insights about the future we can build together.

AI is revolutionizing the art landscape, offering novel perspectives and challenging traditional concepts of creativity. With AI increasingly woven into artistic practice, it is essential to ensure its ethical and responsible use. The fusion of art and AI promises an exhilarating future rich with endless possibilities and transformations—a vision that Canvas of the Future aspires to reveal.

Submissions to the contest will be assessed based on various criteria, including the creation of original and technically advanced artwork in the form of high-resolution digital images. Participants are encouraged to leverage innovative and ethically sourced AI tools and techniques. Entries should present a unique and thought-provoking interpretation of sustainability and the UN SDGs, effectively convey the artist’s vision, resonate with a diverse international audience, and align with the aims, values, and principles of the UN. Ultimately, the artwork should stimulate meaningful dialogue, raise awareness, or inspire action on sustainability and the UN SDGs, especially within the context of the AI for Good Global Summit and beyond.

The contest website and submission portal for the AI-powered Art Contest are now live. All creative individuals—whether accomplished artists, enthusiastic AI learners, or merely curious minds fascinated by the intersection of AI and art—are encouraged to get involved. An esteemed panel of experts in AI and art will be appointed to evaluate the submissions. The winner of the contest will receive an invitation to the AI for Good Global Summit 2024, scheduled for May 30-31 in Geneva.
