Unleashing AI Potential: Explore the Newly Launched Standards Framework for AI Readiness

Today, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), teaming up with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), has introduced the AI Readiness Framework. This innovative framework is specifically crafted to assist nations globally in efficiently embracing emerging technologies and promoting international collaboration in the domain of artificial intelligence (AI).

The framework was presented in detail during the third edition of the Global Artificial Intelligence Summit (GAIN), hosted by SDAIA in Riyadh from September 10 to 12, 2024. Titled “AI Ready – Analysis Towards a Standardized Readiness Framework,” the report outlines a thorough set of guidelines aimed at assessing and improving the effective incorporation of AI technologies by various countries. It also emphasizes the importance of sustainable development and economic progress while striving to create a universal standard for evaluating AI capabilities and strategies worldwide.

The focus of this framework is to strengthen global partnerships, bolster economic growth, and establish worldwide standards for AI readiness, in addition to enhancing national capabilities in the AI sector.

This comprehensive report is primarily aimed at assisting government officials, policymakers, and key figures within the AI and tech industries. It also caters to international organizations, development agencies, academic institutions, AI practitioners, developers, industry stakeholders, NGOs engaged in technology and development, and media professionals interested in the latest advancements in AI.

The report dives into the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Readiness study which is foundational for developing a framework that gauges AI readiness, signifying the potential to harness the advantages of AI integration.

Core factors influencing AI readiness include:
1) Availability of Open Data
2) Access to Research
3) Deployment Capabilities alongside Infrastructural Support
4) Stakeholder Buy-in fostered by Standards—trust, interoperability, and security
5) A Developer Ecosystem nurtured through Open Source Solutions
6) Data Collection and Model Validation facilitated via Sandbox Pilot Experimental Setups.

Leading up to this launch, SDAIA entered into an agreement with ITU during the second Global Artificial Intelligence Summit in September 2022. This initiative aims to enhance the sharing and implementation of best practices, regulatory frameworks, and vital institutional reforms across all nations.
