Intel Enhances AI Inferencing for Developers with OpenVINO 2022.1
Intel has launched a significant new version of OpenVINO aimed at enhancing AI inferencing capabilities for developers. OpenVINO has been a go-to tool for hundreds of thousands of developers looking to deploy AI workloads at the edge. The latest updates in OpenVINO 2022.1 are informed by over three years of feedback from the developer community.
According to Adam Burns, VP of OpenVINO Developer Tools at Intel, “The latest release of OpenVINO 2022.1 builds on more than three years of learnings from hundreds of thousands of developers to simplify and automate optimizations.” This upgraded version introduces features such as hardware auto-discovery and automatic optimization, allowing developers to achieve peak performance across various platforms efficiently. This software, when paired with Intel hardware, offers a considerable return on investment for AI solutions.
Notable enhancements include a broader range of supported deep learning models, improved device portability, and higher inferencing performance with minimal code modifications. The enriched model support facilitates new deployment approaches, while a novel automatic optimization feature identifies system compute parameters and dynamically enhances AI parallelization and load distribution, depending on available compute and memory resources.
OpenVINO is built on oneAPI, a unified API standard designed for compatibility across different computing accelerators, including GPUs and AI accelerators. High-profile organizations including Hitachi, BMW Group, and American Tower are among the notable users of OpenVINO. Eric Watko, VP of Innovation at American Tower, stated, “With American Tower’s edge infrastructure, Intel’s OpenVINO deep learning capabilities and Zeblok’s AI platform-as-a-service, we can enable a complete smart solution for the market.”
OpenVINO 2022.1 is set for release in March 2022, offering developers an advanced tool for maximizing AI inferencing capabilities.
