OpenAI’s Latest Neural Network Creates Images from Written Descriptions
OpenAI has released a striking new advancement in AI technology: an image-generating neural network known as DALL·E. This innovative model boasts 12 billion parameters, expanding on GPT-3’s capabilities by generating images from textual descriptions. According to OpenAI, “DALL·E is able to create plausible images for a vast array of sentences that delve into the compositional structure of language.”
The generated images can vary widely, including drawings, objects, and even edited photographs of real-world scenes. As with OpenAI’s GPT-3 text generator, concerns are raised about the potential misuse of this technology, including the ability to create deceptive images that could contribute to the spread of misinformation, similar to the challenges seen during discussions around COVID-19, 5G technologies, and electoral processes.
